Στην έκθεση του Bruce Davidson στην Ελληνοαμερικανική Ένωση δεν κατάφερα να πάω, δεν πρόλαβα για την ακρίβεια. Ο Davidson είναι από τους γνωστότερους Αμερικανούς φωτογράφους των τελευταίων 50 χρόνων- ειδικά τα άλμπουμ του ‘Subway’ και ‘East 100th Street’ μ’αρέσουν πάρα πολύ.


Όποτε βλέπω φωτό από το ‘East 100th Street’ αυτόματα στον νου μου έρχεται το “ oooooooooooooh ooooooh ooooooh oooooooh” που κάνει ο Bobby Womack στην εισαγωγή του ‘Across 110th Street’. Κομματάρα. Και φωνάρα, βεβαίως.

Κι οι φωτό του Davidson, και το κομμάτι του Womack μιλάνε για τη ζωή στο ghetto και τους δρόμους της Νέας Υόρκης. Οι ασπρόμαυρες εικόνες από το ‘East 100th Street’ και οι έγχρωμες από το ‘Subway’ λένε όσα δεν μπορούν να πουν 100 ρεπορτάζ στους δρόμους.

Το κομμάτι του Bobby Womack ακούγεται στην ταινία του Ridley Scott ‘American Gangster’ που θα βγει σύντομα στις αίθουσες, με τον Denzel Washington και τον Russell Crow. Γνωστό έγινε κι από το σάουντρακ του ‘Jackie Brown’ του Quentin Tarantino.
